Open Beta?

When does it start? i wanna play :(

I read in the gamasutra interview that they said the open beta would start early September. As far as what exact date, I couldn't tell ya =/

IMO, look for it to start around September 9th.

Yeh, Thal has this magic crystal ball that tells release dates for things. Movies, games, etc etc

im in the same position as Kai. my computer is not gonna run it unless i make a slight upgrade

Need a better video card yes? Shouldn't be too bad. Since you have PCI Express you can get yourself a nice card for prolly less than 100 bucks. just make sure you show me it first so I can tell you if it's good or not

my new pcs being built atm should be here within the next couple o' weeks

My brother and I put together an even better computer for me to get for 100 bucks less (ends up being about 300, 400 if I wanna get Windows 7 but it's not a necessity). The processor might not be intel but it's still a quad-core AMD which supposedly the AMD chips are really catching up, taking over intel because of their prices. Here's to hoping it's freakin' worth it ;DI really hope it'll run FFXI well, 'cuz if it does, it'll run most other things well, and i've never had a compy that can do that XD

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a NVIDIA GeForce 9300m gs hd something something... idk the rest I'd have to look.

I may be mistaken. All I know Is I'm going to do w/e it takes to play this sooo we'll see.

yeah its about $1200, but the price of electronics especially pc components is alot cheaper over there as far as i know, ive seen kai say $100 for some stuff but that overe here would be atleast 1.5x or 2x the price so really my pc is prolly only worth around $500-700

from the little bit that i saw at Thal's house i can see that this game is gonna be amazing.

He said "gs" at the end - Means it's a laptop (or perhaps a slimline desktop) graphics card.

Tric - An Intel Core 2 Duo SHOULD be fine, as long as the GHz are more than like 2.5 or so. You ~might~ need a better graphics card, I feel like that thing won't run it well if it's only a 9300 GS :x

Like I said you ~might~. Do yourself a favor and google Video Card Comparison. There's an article by GPureReview that allows you to compare video cards. Find yours, then find the specs for the minimum requirements for FFXIV. Compare the two, just make sure you input the GS version so you know for sure.

Word on the Forums is that Open Beta starts Auguest 31st, Sepetember 1st, depending on your time zone. I think you still need to sign up for it on their website tho.

So the only place I see to sign up for any beta is where we signed up before for closed beta which is open anymore... so they're just gonna pick from people that signed up back then to play open? What a let down..

I'm not really sure Tiger, I know they are limiting the people allowed in. So its not really a "Public Beta".

I'd recommend double checking your Square-Enix accounts to see if you have "Beta Access" listed under your services. Again, NOT your PlayOnline Accounts, your SE account.

I signed up back then, but they never picked me, and I doubt they will now cuz when I signed up I still had my laptop, which was considerably worse than my current computer... but it we applied again we'd never play at all -.- But I'll check, just in case.

I know I never received an email saying I got in, I just kept trying to log into the beta site with my SE account :)

So I checked, but I didn't see anything. Where'd you find yours? Under notifications? Either way, I don't see anything so I guess that means they didn't pick me after all.

Just reapply Allex, won't hurt, especially now that you have a computer that should be able to run it. I have a feeling they scrap the applications after each beta or something.

I got an email today, telling me to download the client and log in, get my key, and play.

I think everyone that applied for closed beta has gotten an email. I got one too. Damn postponement!

I wish they could at least tell us how long it'll be postponed... hours? days?

In the mean time I'm downloading the installer..

if you log in to their site they are releasing hour by hour updates, and the last one said it will be up 6:00pm PDT time, so 9:00 pm EDT for us in florida. this is for the North American beta tho.
