Newbie from FFXIVCore, im new to FF MMO's but have been playing MMO's since the begining of Everquest.

Hey! My name is C.J. aka Mended, I live in Tempe, AZ and I go to ASU for computer science engineering. I played ffxi for a little bit when it first came out and got to 40blm/20whm but I got tired of looking for parties for hours a day. My RL friends all decided not to play because of the XP surplus, and I don't really feel like playing alone when ffxiv first comes out . I played WoW from day 1 and spent 99.8% of my time on that game PvP'ing. As much as I enjoy melting faces, it's time for something new. My girlfriend is going to play but i'm sure she won't catch on to it like I will. As far as any other MMO's, I played RF online for a week but it was terrible. I actually built a PC a few weeks ago for this game:
CPU - Intel i7 930 2.8
GPU - GeForce GTX 470 x2 SLI
MEM - 6GB 1600Mhz
Sadly, I still have hiccups in town and I dont have ambient occlusion or depth of field checked. I'm basically obsessed with music, however other true "metalheads" are few and far between. I apologize for being a bit scatterbrained, but I look forward to hearing from everyone and getting to know you all in-game! <3

By music metalheads do you mean underground stuff or like..metallica >.>..because Metallica will never compare to Between the Buried and Me in a million years.

To me Metalheads are Metallica, but I am old school. I personally like most types of music, from classical to techno to punk.

Glad to have to Mended! I hope we're the right fit for your needs as a gamer! If you have any questions feel free to ask. Tell your real life friends they're chumps for ditching a game that's in beta because of a system that hasn't been properly tested. Overreacting gets you no where :P

As for getting your g/f interested, tell her Jacob/Edward plays depending on her team. But seriously, for my g/f at the time (now my wife) what appealed to her the most about FFXI wasn't the game itself but the community. She enjoyed and still enjoys logging in just to hang out with all the people in the Linkshell, which in turn becomes a passion for the game itself. So I hope that the same will apply for your g/f.

Well sorry if I dissed Metallica I'm just more into the underground bands, even if BTBAM flourished out of being underground anymore, they started that way and I lurves them. But back on topic - Welcome to the LS and like Thal said, we hope you like it here :D

Did we just become best friends?! I was definitely not talking about metallica. and BTBAM is right up my alley, I saw them live a couple months ago I was talking about bands like acacia strain, all shall perish, btbam, black dahlia, born of osiris, faceless, miss may i, periphery, within the ruins, and veil of maya just to name a few.

BTBAM (their entire works, they're my favorite band ^_^) , August Burns Red, Byzantine, Periphery (I like a few songs from their old stuff, their new singer blows), Veil of Maya, Bloodbath, Opeth, Baroness, Torch, Textures, Misery Signals, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Becoming the Archetype, Underoath, The Red Chord, A Life Once Lost, Latitudes, Iron Age, The Human Abstract (Their old stuff, they sound so bad now..), Intronaut, Detonation, Cynic, Cruel Hand, Black Dahlia Murder <--- Just what I have on my Ipod - and other stuff.

I also have chill music like Circa Survive, The Format, This Town Needs Guns, Good Old War..etc etc

Alright, Introduction. My name is Josh, I'm 21 and living in Naples, FL. I started with MMOs playing Asheron's Call way back in the MMO stone age. I've worked my way around, sticking with AC for 6-7 years, but trying out other games at the same time; Phantasy Star Online, WoW, City of Heroes, Ragnarok Online, Arad Senki, FFXI and a few others. I'm reeeeeeeeally looking forward to XIV, I've been counting the days since... hell, when I was still playing XI. Going to have to get a new computer for it, given the insane graphical requirements, but it really looks amazing. I know a few of the other member here from the outside world, but I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone, and hopefully have a great time with the game.

How's the LS doing in FFXI? or is everyone all ready for XIV?

I wouldn't know, I quit FFXI about 8 months or so ago lol I gave the linkshell to Jawwz, and that was mainly just endgame. TwilightEdge died long ago mah friend. Thal runs this joint now :) And we've got quite the amount of people rearin' for it to come out! TE vet's and new members alike ^^ I'm glad to hear you're well too - it's so nice talkin' to an old friend again! :D

Alright! I'm a nursing student from Atlanta, GA with a decent MMO background. I started with Everquest Online Adventures for the PS2 (I'm told this version is not so good), and eventually moved on to FFXI, being a long time fan of the series. I played on Titan as a member of Twilight edge as a Bard main, with White Mage upcoming at 56. After this I went and played WoW for a bit where I leveled a Druid to 80 and prompty quit the game. I never could quite get into the community in that game. As for other video games, I enjoy the Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, Left 4 Dead, and many others. If you ask, chances are I already own the game. I was lucky enough to participate in the FFXIV closed beta phase, where I decided that I really enjoyed crafting. Because of this, I want to be a crafter/gatherer main with Thaumaturge or another mage class as my combat specialty. I will play a Hellsguard Roegadyn named Eurik Voelkel at launch, starting in Gridania.

Facts about me:
My real name is Josh. You can either call me this or Eurik, I really don't mind either.
I recently got into the platform steam (my name is PsychicFork if you wanna add me) where I was able to play with many RL friends, as well as people I met there.
I am an avid fan of comma splices in my sentences, with a punctuation and capitalization optional opinion!
My nursing specialty will either be NICU or PICU when I graduate in May.

Hey All~ I'm back!

Intro for, well pretty much everyone, since I was always kind of quiet.

I started with MMOs back in 2003 with FFXI. Somehow I managed to put 5 years into that game, and still had no level 75's I had the worst case of job ADD. The three jobs I had closest to mains were Dancer, BLM and WHM. Tried some WoW after that as a rogue. I got pretty heavy into the raiding before I realized how pointless it was in WoW. It's just a self perpetuating cycle, I rolled bad number for the rogue loot 4 weeks in a row, and then I wasn't strong enough to do the new raids... for FFXIV I'll be going with an Elezen, probably start as Pugilist / Lancer, and add in other classes as the job ADD see fit. Since the EXP cap system kind of encourages it, I don't feel so bad.

As for my not video gaming background. I'm a DBA for a international insurance company, who hosts their main US datacenter in WI. I spend most of my free time online. Either Pyrnn, or Grant works for a name. I'm a bit shy, but I start talking eventually once I get comfortable with people. As a side project, I'm currently trying to make mead.

I'm playing off an older comp, but it still runs FFXIV on standard.
