What's your favorite anime?
Mine's Naruto! I've gotten completely sick of Bleach at this point. 3 minutes for the intro music, 5 minutes for recap, then the show, and then they end the show at 19 minutes so really you get about 10 minutes of new content...really annoying. I have a crunchy roll account (Thanks Allex!) to use and I liked The Tower of DRUAGA: The Aegis of URUK and also it's sequel season The Sword of URUK. Only 24 episodes in all but they did a good job getting you to know the characters and care for them. I've heard Hellsing is good but I've never gotten around to watching it...
any suggestions? D:

Full Metal Panic.
It's so amazing. Mecha combat juxtaposed with high school drama with a decent mix of comedy thrown in. And the end of the first season? Perfect. The last line the villain issues is the single most amazing line I've heard an antagonist give. The hero's response is hilarious too.
Then they go into The Second Raid, and that too, is amazing.
Hulu's got all three FMP series up for viewing. Watch em now before they go away! I recommend starting with Full Metal Panic, then moving to Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, then going into Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid. It'll make the most sense that way and while Fumoffu is technically a romantic/situational comedy, it gets referenced in TSR.
Other favorites include Gundam 00, Code Geass, Martial Successor Nadesico, and Photon: the Idiot Menace. That last one is a solid gem, overlooked by most. It easily vies for top spot with FMP, but is overshadowed due to its relative brevity.
EDIT: ACK! I omitted GitS! How could I be so foolish?! Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, and the 2nd Gig. Solid stuff.

I'd also like to add When They Cry as an anime I enjoyed watching. Though I will admit that I was a bit put off by it at first, and sometimes I felt disheartened throughout the series: and stuff.

RIGHT?!
Not many people have watched it, so I can never talk about it.
Sucks it was such a short series. Most animes are though.

Re: What's your favorite anime?
I gave up on Bleach but lately I've been watching Naruto Shippuden and others I've watched include Elfen Lied, FMA, Death Note, Eureka Seven, Blue Gender, Samurai Champloo, Dragonball, Dragonball Z, Tenchi Muyo (I miss that show), Digimon, Shaman King, one that had to do with food that you'd cook and depending on how well it was cooked, you'd throw a card onto it and it'd turn into a good monster... I don't remember... 07-Ghost, Element Hunters, Monster Rancher, and Zoids and Beast Wars but I'm not sure if those count. I'm sure there's more but I can't think of them right now...

I gotta say Soul Eater REALLY captured me. I really like the weapon/user concept of it, along with the halloween/reaper scheme that came with it ^^. And when Death gets pissed, he went CRAZY badass lol

DIGIMON! I don't care what people say - that series was better than Pokemon show-wise. The games unfortunately never added up because they had a different concept but I loved all of 'em. and I used to watch the movie over and over when I was a kid. It's STILL awesome to watch >.>; I'mma have to check out Soul Eater though =o

Re: What's your favorite anime?
agreed on Digimon. Show was nifty, games sucked. Pokemon was opposite (show sucked, games rock, except the TCG, that still sucks)
Anybody seen Sekirei? It's naughty, but fun. (tis on Hulu right now)

Re: What's your favorite anime?
Having watch NGE, inclusive of the movies, and looking back I really don't like that anime. I respect it, as it was a signature work and a definite must watch for any anime enthusiast, but compared to other works by Masamune, Miyazaki, or even Gainax itself (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, I'm lookin at you!) it falls short.
Now there's one I didn't remember to mention (and ought be flogged for it): Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. That anime is... amazing. If you haven't seen it, go immediately to Hulu and watch it from start to finish. Do it now. I'll wait.
... That may very well be the greatest celebration of humanity I have ever witnessed, barring no medium.

Never said i liked it. lol It was a good anime up until everything starting getting ridiculous and the creator had only enough money to do three more episodes and crammed a bunch of shit at the last second.
Seriously, it all gave me a headache. I was pretty excited when it ended. haha But I HAD to finish it.

Re: What's your favorite anime?
Following the success of the volume despite the pisspoor ending, Gainax allowed funding for a proper end to be released.
It was fairly nonsensical as well.
But really. Watch Gurren Lagann. If you don't, Santa Claus will kick a puppy.

Re: What's your favorite anime?
That was more a generally aimed request.
And it's not me threatening the puppies, tis the Claus. Though I'm sure he likely knows of the predisposition of mortals toward small fuzzy creatures and would not hesitate to vent his anger on keetoms as well, though it pains me to admit it.
Think of teh kitties! Watch Gurren Lagann!
*hugs his cat*

I have been told I should watch Gurren Lagann by other people... I'll definitely look into it at some point....
Besides, I must protect the kitties!
Whoever kicks a cat dies a most horrible, slow, and agonizingly painful death. It shall start with a pair of pliers and said persons fingernails...

Word.
It's so amazing, it spawned two spin off alt universe mini series manga and two movies. I've seen it at least six times from start to finish and its later episodes still give me chills.

Mark my words this drill will open a hole in the universe
and that hole will be a path for those behind us
for the dreams of those who have fallen, for the hopes of those that will follow
those two sets of dreams weave together to form a double-helix
drilling a path to tommorow
THAT IS TENGEN TOPPA! THAT IS GURREN LAGANN!
MY DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT CREATES THE HEAVENS!
Seriously. Watch it. It's pretty close to perfect, and the best work Gainax has done and probably will ever do.

Re: What's your favorite anime?
If Gurren Lagann's awesomeness were to be expressed as an exponential function, its range would swiftly encompass the set of all real positive numbers... and some imaginaries as well, in all likelihood. Hell, it'd probably start graphing itself multidimensionally. Like, in 4 or more dimensions. No, I'm not sure how that's possible, it just does it and I've learned not to look too closely at how.
Seriously, there's probably aliens out in Alpha Centauri that've caught the broadcast of Gurren Lagann before it was even made and have since developed their entire civilization based on it. Side note: if they did, we're so hosed.
