Starting Towns

There was an interesting bit of these mentioned in the introductions thread, but Thal brought it back on topic. I was so amused by it that I wanted to make a thread for it. So! Where do you plan to start? Why? Why not other towns? What do you like or dislike about the towns? Comparisons/contrasts to Bastok, Windy, and Sandy?

As for me, Gridania - Mah bes' friend is starting there and it seems like lots of others are too.

But who knows, I might choose Ul'Dar for shiz n gigs. Like a boss .

I'm kinda torn. Limsa Lominsa has fishing and the town isn't too bad, though the dialogue is a headache to read damn pirates. Ul'Dah has the general area types I love, Deserts, canyons, and caves. But their trade is mainly clothecraft which i have no desire to take up. I wanted fishing and culinary, so idk we shall have to wait and see when the game finally releases before i make a full decision. tbh not big on forests and Windy wasn't my favorite city in the last, so idt i'll be going with Gridania, even tho it is the drg/Lancer home nation in this one.

I assume Limsa is the Marauder hometown?

Well I got it to 23, and thats as far as I went cuz I wanted to be able to synth bullets before I went any higher. Never got that finished, so never leveled more ; ;

I don't want to start in Gridania 'cuz everybody else will start there, and I will get pissy at the amount of tarutarus I see BECAUSE I WILL MOST LIKELY TRIP OVER ALL OF THEM!

Ul'Dah is where I will be.

noapproxi you have a good point. As much as I would like to start in Gridania, I have a feeling it will be the most crowded city. Limsa might be the least crowded since it was the only one available for closed beta and most people didn't really like it. I think i'll wait till after trying out all the cities in open beta to make my decision though.

Yea, i've decided to just go with Ul'Dah, it suites me better than the other cities. Perhaps I will take up clothcraft skill if Pug uses cloth, seems that way so far but idk if leather will come into play.

My final decision is gonna be how each of the other cities grasps me in the open beta. I like the idea of Ul'Dah but most of us will be starting there so I feel it'd be easier to get everyone sorted in the linkshell that way.

No offense, but I don't want to go with the majority of the linkshell for a town. People will eventually connect from all over, so it doesn't really matter. Plus I have plenty of time to play everyday.

Plus I don't mind running my tail all over the world to meet up with my fellow mates.

i might start in limsa just cuz they will be doing blacksmiithing and im gonna make a roegadyn. still new so i dont really know waht im doing yet

what do you mean the majority of us in Ul'Dah kai? the only ppl i have seen goin there so far would be me and NoApproxi. Everyone else seems to want to go with Gridania and a few with Limsa.

Well Tiger'll be startin' there and so is Thal, and I'm sure Omi will be too. But who knows, I may like Ul'Dah. Guess we'll see come open beta..which should've been up by now >=|

Oh wait, I enjoyed that aspect of the game. Deleveling made me feel like I needed to try harder not to be an idiot.

tbh it depends where the cooking people are, half the week i'll only get 4 hours online a day if that so i might jst spend that cooking or something.
