PVP???

quick question,


how is the game play for pvp going to be in this one compared to ffXI?

When I was watching an interview I believe they stated (at least for a little while) that PVP won't be a very large aspect.

i know for some people the pvp in this game will make or break it.

Well in FFXI they had it but it wasn't the most common thing, not like WoW anyway. But I'm sure they'll throw it in at some point, problem was in FFXI it was a total pain in the ass to be able to get there and do it so let's hope it's more simple this time around..

SE has actually stated that they have never cared for the whole concept behind pvp. In the last one they had some stuff, but it's never really been a game meant for pvp. Not nearly to the extent of like WoW or Aion at least. Who knows though, they may have some new stuff in there this next time around.

so long as no ones going to brutally ass rape me with a giant sword while i go about me business, I'm all for a PvP system.

Aye, Omi, that's what ticked me off about Aion. You had no choice where or not to PVP - you were forced into it which isn't fun when you're just trying to sit back and chill, do some quests, maybe grind some mobs for 4 hours.

I agree Neko. I wasn't ever really a big fan of PvP either. And Omi, ganking you up the ass with a great sword is what pvp is about :P lol

I like PVP but I want to choose to be able to do it whenever I want. I don't wanna be like "ok let's pvp" and have to wait an hour or more like in FFXI. But I also don't wanna be forced into it and getting ganked every 3 seconds like in Aion -.-

I agree with Kailok, PvP in ffxi was very much control and players could choose when they wanted to do it (which is always fun). In Aion your choices where PvP now or death!!

Yeah. Just the problem with FFXI's PVP was the wait-times =/ and you had to be in the zone to figure out when the next one was going to be - or do the one in Jeuno but in order to that you had to rack up points from doing the ones around the continent. Just too much of a mess >.< S'why I never got into it much unless a couple friends asked me to and they already had the points to do a Jeuno one.

I really enjoy PvP, but with how Final Fantasy works, I doubt they would put energy into making a system. While I would enjoy PvP, I know it won't work out well. The queue lines would probably be crazy, and there isn't much incentive from them besides personal honor. I suppose they could implement a system, but it probably won't be popular. But hey! More energy towards better gameplay and storyline!

PvP is great in WoW, but that's because there is just so much free time to do stuff and you get decent rewards. I don't see what they could do in FFXIV to make it not like WoW.

PvP was great in FFXI if it happened to be at a day/time that people could gather. NIN/RDM ftw.

It would always be nice to maybe see a /duel feature or something like FFXI's Ballista.

Personally, I couldn't care less if there was PvP aspect to FFXIV. I never touched it in FFXI, and the only reason I did it in Aion was because I didn't have a choice. If they have one, fine, but I most likely won't be going near it.

But I'm definitely going to pounce on any PvP they want to introduce in FFXIV.

i'm definitely on board some some PvP action in FFXIV. i know it was a miniscule part of FFXI but its something that i really enjoyed and even had my own gear sets just for Ballista (60 and uncaped only) good times
