I had that problem, too. Just right click the icon, select Troubleshoot compatability, and do the Vista Service pack 2. It should work fine then.

7 Does work. That's what I use. I'm not sure what issue you're running into.

Open your ports (read these: http://portforward.com/networking/static-win7.htm http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Belkin/F5D8235-4/default.htm) Or use Utorrent to download the files. I recommend the first option. Will really help with download speeds.

Router shouldn't have any effect to the installation of the game. Also if you have problems you can always just uninstall and reinstall.

Yes it can, but to be safe write down any info before you change it, so that you can change it back.

Re: i thought that windows 7 would work
Naksu, try turning OFF compatibility. IF it was on before you tried to install that may be causing problems also.

Re: i thought that windows 7 would work
So, DNS servers and addresses.
Every computer connected to the internet has a numerical address (their IP address). When we go online, we commonly don't type in numerical IP's into our browser's URL bar because it's a pain in the rear to remember that hotmail is X.Y.Z.Q. while yahoo is P.R.S.T. To facilitate our using of common english (or whatever) in accessing internet locations, DNS (Domain Name Service) exists. Essentially, your computer accesses a predetermined IP address every time you type something in the URL bar and asks what the corresponding IP is to your query. These DNS servers have static IP addresses that do not typically change because if they did start shifting, the whole of the internet's framework would likely collapse.
So we know DNS exists and what it's role is in computing. We also know that DNS servers exist at specific points of reference in the internet and that the IP addresses don't change.
This means we can google it*! Or we can let windows tell us what DNS server to use based on the DNS list that's pre-encoded on every installation of Windows (or that Windows can access at a moment's notice on Microsoft's big database server in the sky). In fact, the steps by which to find where Windows keeps the DNS are in the first link that Thalamant posted at Step 9... so I'm not going to get into it.
I learnt me an internets in Heald, dur...
* I do not recommend googling for DNS servers. DNS poisoning is a known method by which haxxorz can FUBAR your machine and googling for DNS servers makes it easy for them. Just have Windows find you some hot, steamy DNS love.
